There is an agenda to circumvent the current right to bear arms with every tragedy that is publicized in the media, it is used to erode our thinking on the subject matter. Guns don't kill people; people kill people with guns... The fact that they are allowed to get in the hands of young people and are used irresponsibly by a few is not a reason to cause the entire population to suffer and take away guns. Tighter constraints, thorough background checks and qualifications (e.g. going through lessons on how to use a gun and state tests) etc... is a much more sensible approach.
In addition, the reasoning that guns can't protect us from a government that is equipped with stealth bombers, drones, tanks and nuclear weapons is also a weak and contrived argument. This is not to diminish the immense tragedies that have and will occur. Are these incidents more prevalent or are they just more in our faces because of a relentless media blitz. It possibly may be a blend of both due to increased population numbers and a more intense and technological era for media being in our faces virtually 24/7.
I do not own a gun, though, as based in the constitution I appreciate my right to own one if I so choose. The current somewhat prevailing mindset of gun control can be likened to the same thing that happened with discipline and our children in a time not so long ago. People and parents abused and crossed the line when it came to discipline and the broad stroke laws came out prohibiting many forms of discipline. This has resulted in many parents having NO control over their children when it comes to setting boundaries. In many households I've been in and in many malls I've frequented there are an increasing number of parents that absolutely have no control over their children and there is an undeniable lack of respect, manners, and responsible behavior. My point here is, instead of making the entire population suffer for the irresponsible behavior of a few, take strides to address individual situations with the individuals that are running a muck and committing such irresponsible acts.
I am not an outright liberal and I am not an outright conservative as many of you can tell by many of my posts on Facebook. I don't fall under any one umbrella and that means that I am an independent and critical thinker who doesn't buy into one ideology just because those parameters are set for me. This idea that you have to be one thing and not the other and can't be anything in between is part of the bigger problem. That problem is the continuing and increasing separation in our population through government and the media via issues such as race, sex, political affiliation, sexual persuasion and religious or spiritual affiliation. AS IF we need anything else to keep us separate from one another.
I'm not necessarily for guns or against them. I can see both sides and the merit of both sides. All I would ask is to take the time with out having knee jerk reactions and really think about the issues of guns. Before you make a decision on how you feel (Again, I'm NOT trying to diminish the tragedy of recent events with guns we all have heard and know about) check the links out and do much of your own research to see both sides and opposing views on guns and expose your self without emotion attached to your thoughts. That may be difficult but in order to be objective and neutral while taking in information it's necessary to put the emotion aside so as to see the logic and reasoning of both sides of this argument.
Below, I've placed two links of opposing views.
