I guess the title of this article may be a bit misleading as I'm ready to give my opinion of the Grammy Awards show itself rather than solely my opinions of the performances. I watched the Grammy Awards Show and all in all I'd give it a B. I say this because, albeit there were some extremely good performances (i.e. Adelle, Sam Bruno, Taylor Swift, Tony Bennett, Jennifer Hudson, etc...), I think it fell short in terms of trying to have too much appeal to everyone. Maybe I'm just getting older and don't appreciate some things. However, the performance by Nikki Minaj, some Mickey Mouse glowing head acting like a DJ, and some others I can't remember, just left me shaking my head and wanting to turn the T.V. off and go to bed. In addition to that the honoring of the recent deaths of Whitney Houston, Etta James, and not so recent Gil Scott Heron, fell far short in my estimation. I think this show is WAY more about glitz and glamour than about REAL artistry and music. Surly as stars of music we're going to have the glitz and glamour aspect to things but it's seems that it's becoming more and more the primary focus than what the Grammy Award Show was created for in the first place. So, is this just Grammy remorse I'm experiencing base on some contrived ideas of what I think the Grammy Award Show should be? Hmmm.
