The myth of the eight-hour sleep

There have been many and widely varying opinions on sleep architecture.  While many of these opinions have somewhat become the standard school of thought in terms of our sleep architecture, this particular article puts things in perspective from a historical standpoint.  It delves into a little known fact that sleep wasn't always an eight hour experience.  This is a very good read and gives an alternative perspective on something we do every night when we close our eyes.
